Inviting your child to help with household work is not easy, especially if it disturbs his play activities. The tendency, they will sulk and not do what they are told.

However, as parents we must teach children to do household work such as washing dishes, lifting clothesline, or sweeping the floor. The positive effects will be felt by children when they are adults. Not just more independent, children who are accustomed to “working” at home tend to be more successful.

“By doing household work, they will realize the importance of working to be a part of life,” says author of the book How to Raise an Adult, Julie Lythcott-Haims. Julie also conducts long-term research on parenting, inviting children to do household work.

“If a child does not do the dishes, it means someone else is doing it. Not only is he free from work, but learning to understand work must be done and anyone can contribute,” he said.
